Answer to the question in the title is No.
One thing I really love is this government’s heavy implication that anyone who claims benefits for mental health problems is taking the piss.
So, in this latest podcast episode, we hear from Mel. Mel claims the personal independence payment for mental health issues.
Mel explains how and why her mental health problems developed – and how one ongoing event in particular pushed her over the brink.
I’m a taxpayer and I’m more than happy for PIP to be awarded to people with mental health conditions. God knows we live in an era that seems designed to drive us all up the wall.
Mental Health is the most hardest health condition to prove on PIP or any other disability benefit. Now what is classed as Mental Health is another thing. The issue here is Covid Lockdown where 90% of the nation were defrauding the DWP because it was set up to defraud. £Billions lost & can’t be got back. Now blame the disabled yet again for losing the DWP £Billions in DWP fraud done by the DWP itself. The DWP need to take responsibility over their own policy. Oh no Labour says it was the Tories policy. So why continue the Tory Welfare Reform policy Labour because it is called Government DWP Fraud against the disabled.
Crisis and Resilience Fund: Guidance for local authorities in England (1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029)
Introduction
1. The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) (“The Fund”) has been made available to local authorities (LAs) in England to support low-income households who encounter a financial shock and to support activity that builds individual and community financial resilience. This funding covers the period of 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029 inclusive (“The Fund Period”). This includes specified funding for housing support.

The new Crisis and Resilience Fund replaces the Household Support Fund that was meant to be a temporary measure. Same thing, different title, unless the criteria is more stringent.
Here’s a half baked explanation of the Government’s half baked plot to “reform” Universal Credit, with particular reference to the long term sick. Overall UC money is increasing whilst new claims for Limited Capability for Work and Work Related Activity (related) Universal Credit (phew! What a mouthful) are to be reduced by 50%, so winners and losers. The rest includes much talk of getting Britain back to work, usual clichès, “WorkWell” , “Connect to Work”, indvidual help & support, etc.

Or I should say that the extra amount paid to those claiming LCW&WRAUC is to be reduced by 50%.
