Update August 12:

And so youtube has shut down my videos of the UK Uncut and DPAC occupation of Iain Duncan Smith’s weekend place. A legal complaint has been made. Sob. Interestingly, you can see the whole place on googlemaps.

Here are the videos you can’t see anymore. If you’re in the UK (they’re only blocked in the UK for some reason):

Never mind. We seek new solutions.

Update 2 June 2013:

I’ve had a note from youtube that “an individual” has complained that these videos (and the pictures of the grounds at IDS’ house) constitute a “privacy violation.” I suppose that means they may be taken down, so please download and share the videos while they’re still there. I don’t know who the complainant is – could be Iain Duncan Smith, his inlaws, or someone else entirely. I contend that this sort of video, which shows the great wealth in which the architect (IDS) of “reforms” like the bedroom tax lives, must and should be publicised and is of public interest. The sort of inequality the videos on this page suggest should be taken note of by anyone who a) cares about equality and b) cares about the instability great inequality inevitably brings.

Update Sunday 14 April:

Here’s my longer video now of the whole day: interviews, me and others slagging Liam Byrne off on the train, which is only right, a nice turn around IDS’ sprawling grounds and a picnic out front. There’s also a section in here with Dom Aversano, the young man who started the “Prove You Can Live On £53 A Week, IDS” petition. Got a few words from him while he was standing outside IDS’ fabulous country gaff.

We should all be rich. Seriously. This place looked very good.

Point worth noting: UK Uncut got a lot of flak for partying outside Nick Clegg’s house last year – there was a lot of rightwing yap about not targeting politicians personally and so on. The response to Saturday’s action has been very different – overwhelmingly positive comments on the videos and on twitter, etc. Things have changed.

Saturday 13 April:

And here we are: UK Uncut and DPAC slapping an eviction notice on Iain Duncan Smith’s very fancy country pile in protest at the bedroom tax today.

And what a place. Room for all. Bedrooms for all, certainly. And if you want a break from the bedrooms – well, take a walk outside and enjoy the lake, the fields avec gamboling lambs, the tennis court out the back and the landscaped garden with an arch. I have decided that we should all be rich, really. If you have to live on £53 a week, this is the way to do it. The manor house and the games of cricket in the enormous back garden would really take the edge off it all.

Have got a lot more videos and interviews to upload which I’ll get to soon, so this is to give you an idea. Hats off to DPAC and UK Uncut. Ace action. ACE.

And more! So nice round the back that even the coppers took a stroll. Lawn as far as the eye could see. Didn’t really want to go home.

  1. Well done to all you disabled protesters!! Wish I had the strength and money to be able to be there, my benefits were slashed in February 2011; I’m now living in absolute poverty. No mobility allowance, stuck in my unheated house for two years. Depression is getting worse, can’t afford proper food. But what an uplifting campaign, I hope IDS realizes just what he’s doing to all these vulnerable people. Maybe one day he will lose his fortunes, he will become disabled, then let’s see how HE feels!!

  2. I am so very proud of all of you. My husband has bi polar and I am his sole carer I too am registered disabled

  3. Hello to everyone,
Just like to let people know who are trying to fill in forms for a disclaimer on bedroom tax. As well as writing down all your expenses you have send photo copies of as many bills receipts as you can, this worked for me till mid June might take the pressure off a bit.

    Kind Regards,

    Rhonda

  4. Keep up the good work you beautiful people! One day, and I hope it is soon, you will be rewarded for your heroics in the face of adversity. This man and this government needs to go, they are killing off the very little help that gives dignity to an otherwise difficult life.

  5. Hi all thanks for the video. It was brilliant to see ukuncut and Dpac at this disgusting mans house, I hope they keep the pressure on and bring these lot to justice…keep it going!

  6. UN Agenda 21 Smart Growth has five tenets, one of which is High Density (anti-sprawl, plucking us from the suburbs and placing us forcefully into tenements with specific boundaries). UN Agenda 21 NGOs (non-governmental organizations) insist, “public-private partnerships are the key to establishing successful smart growth projects.” These include discontinuing the building and maintenance of roads, for example. Guess only those who will be able to fly in to their “sprawling” estates will get to have them. The coalition government’s economic plan will see Number 10, Number 11 and NGOs getting an increase of 240% by 2015! About 20% increase to Foreign Aid, and every single thing to sustain our country and we the people will be cut, the greatest cuts to those who have the least. Time we organise the new ‘peasants’ revolution! peace. xx

  7. I wish I could have been a fly on one of those expensive walls when IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME got home. I bet he was incandescent with rage when he saw all those notices pinned to his overly large front door.
The man is an odious twit, such a pity he didn’t do the decent thing and fling himself on Maggie’s pyre when she went and do us all a huge favour.

  8. Social unrest is indeed building up steam.
One notes the protesters had the audacity to place a placard on the main front door.
It needs to be noted that workers and other riff raff underclass must remain at home with no hand outs.
You can of course have a handout of cold gruel if you give ones sheep a good grooming.
One will have to disinfect the gravel at great expense to the taxpayers .
You will be offered three vouchers per year for food so why complain ?, you do not work and you play the victim so you can grab state hand outs….be off with you and KEEP OF THE LAWNS …

  9. You can view the videos if you use the Hola unblocker plugin on Chrome or Firefox and select US. This makes re-routes your IP so it looks like you’re watching from the USA and therefore not subject to the UK legal complaint.

    • Be careful about adding Hola Unblock, as there appears to be a problem that may affect your pc. The fix requires a reset of Firefox and you will lose all your settings. Just FYI.

    • Hi
Wow I seen this video ages a go how come it took so long for them to subdue it and why? Are they ashamed maybe?

  10. I remember Mark Thomas did a series of skits called “tip a toff” were he found certain members of the westminster elite, could reduce tax bills by making their homes open to the public – but did not have to advertise it. They could also write huge sums off by declaring antiques they might own as “of historical interest” and could be viewed by the public. again they did not have to advertise. Mark simply went round to these folks and badgered them into doing it & in some cases forced them off these tax dodge registers and pay the tax they owe. This might be something you can look into?

  11. Britain in 2013! The citizens shine a light on those who are in charge of us and who are accountable for the power we have vested in them and then those who we allow to be our leaders go and abuse their power and BANN us from holding them to account. MAYDAY MAYDAY! Tyranny in Britain in 2013. Save those videos as evidence of the Fanfare of the Common Man.

We shall never be silenced. You shall nit silence us. Enough is enough
