About this site

This site is mainly a collection of interviews with people who rely on public services and who have fought as their services have been privatised and eroded.

My 2020 book “Abusing Power” is a collection of interviews with people who needed benefits and housing help in austerity. The book goes behind the scenes to jobcentre & homelessness meetings and shows how people’s experiences of the austerity state shaped their politics and thinking. Contact me using the details below for a pdf copy.

I’ve published articles on austerity at the Guardian, newleftprojectOpen Democracy, False Economy, the New Statesman and politics.co.uk.

The 2013 joint film made with the Daily Mirror on the fight to save the Independent Living Fund is here.

The October 2014 joint films I made with the Daily Mirror on the fight to save the Independent Living Fund are here (short version 2:58) and here (long version 9:01)
