Iain Duncan Smith’s welfare-to-work plan has already failed

Posted on January 11, 2012 by Kate B

Article by me at False Economy where I interview people from the US about the failure of welfare-to-work programmes to place people in real, long-term jobs, or even lift many above the poverty line. More to come about US welfare reform pushing people off benefits and into homelessness and deep poverty. Disgusting times.

About this site.

This site collects interviews with people who rely on public services and who have fought as services have been eroded.

My 2020 book "Abusing Power" collects interviews with people who needed benefits and housing help in austerity. The book goes behind the scenes to jobcentre & homelessness meetings and shows how people's experiences of the austerity state shaped their politics and thinking. Contact me for a pdf copy.

See the About section for contact details.
