I decided to head down to Whitehall this afternoon to take a look at the protest. I started off outside the pub where the EDL had gathered and decided to follow them down Whitehall. I was kettled in on the EDL side for a while and finally left with my press pass. Got the video below while I was in there. I’ve posted it so that people can see what went on and the sort of numbers there etc.
I found it chilling. Things started off pretty small, as you’ll see and I was thinking This Isn’t Going To Be Much, but then at about 3pm, a much bigger group of EDL protestors arrived from the Trafalgar Square end, pushed through the police lines and joined the group that was heading down Whitehall. I’ve seen estimates of about a thousand EDL protestors and feel that number was probably about right.
There are several possibilities here. One is that these marches are opportunistic and will fizzle out. Two – that this sort of turnout is indicative of wider hatred and that a lot of us will start seeing the fallout from that in our neighbourhoods. I’d switched off a bit in the last few days, because I found the reporting of the Woolwich murder gratuitous in the extreme and thought the mainstream press was actively trying to whip up confrontation.
Anyway. I found today pretty grim, as I say.
Omg yes I can understand this and why but this won’t reflect all us Brits no doubt the label will get put on these would have helped if all types of Brits ie young old involved in this and what we all think of the Lilly liveried government with Cameron just gone to Ibiza I’ve had 3days of my own hell this weekend with yet again police attending on another personal attack on me the last 3weeks very poorly with medics stating for me to just get out as my local press say to as I said to the police when are you going to do anything when I’m dead it resulted in carer asking police to leave its clear to me you have to be scum in this country then you get away literally with murder I’ve had 5years of hell what for I functioned on an untreated congenital heart block for 49years leaving me like I am and today it’s clear to me I will die here as my air space has been restricted further high time this government gone and quite honestly they can expect more of this we have all had enough and I don’t even know who edl are I speak as a decent law abiding citizen it’s this government and local authority’s who support the low life’s in this country fact I’m living proof at what equality term abuse cruelty and discrimination
