  1. Am curious why you are reasonably very concerned with the problems many people face in securing accommodation, but simultaneously seem to regret the UK leaving the EU. Do you not think there is a link between pressure on accommodation you observe and the rapid population growth that has occurred over the last few years as a consequence of Freedom of Movement?

  2. Fair question.

One of the reasons I’m concerned about the UK leaving the EU is purely selfish – I’m an EU (Irish) citizen, not an English one and as such am not entirely sure what happens next. To me, that is.

That aside, my other big problem with Brexit is that I doubt very much that this government will use it as an opportunity to improve people’s circumstances. A massive and extensive housebuilding exercise and increase in the minimum wage (by a substantial, rather than token, amount) is required here and in many parts of the world if problems with living standards and inequality are really to be addressed. Brexit or no Brexit, business will continue to push to bring people in and pay them fuck all, because that’s what business does. And business gets what business wants.
