My podcast now operational at:
https://whovotedforthis.buzzsprout.com/
It’s interviews with parents who have autistic children and serious housing issues.
There’s also plenty of snark about the right wing sociopaths and cringing centrist wallies who pass as political leaders today. Everyone’s sick of the lot of them.
Will be mainly on the podcast now, so not posting here.

DWP refuses to apologise after using ‘deeply irresponsible’ figure to exaggerate benefit claimant rise

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has refused to apologise for massively exaggerating the rise in people claiming out-of-work disability benefits, and then tried to cover-up its actions, just as ministers are trying to justify sweeping cuts to spending.
DWP claimed in a press release last Thursday that there had been a “staggering 319 per cent increase” in the number of working-age people on the health and disability element of universal credit or receiving employment and support allowance (ESA).
The department said this showed the “alarming rate at which young and working aged people are increasingly falling out of work and claiming incapacity benefits”.
There has been an increase – most likely caused by the impact of growing NHS waiting-lists and the Covid pandemic, among other factors – but it is likely to be about 30 to 35 per cent, if comparing 2019-20 with 2023-24.

The so called Labour Government Welfare Reform 2025
Why is it only PIP that is getting a benefit freeze !! Why don’t they putt a benefit freeze on all benefits, which comes under the banner of Universal Credit !!
The Labour Government claim there has been a 319% rise in people claiming ESA, PIP, where as the real figure is between 30% – 35%.
The Welfare bill is rising due the cost of running Universal Credit, which most of the admin has been outscourced to companies that are there for a profit.
Scrapping Universal Credit would save £100bn & bring it back to the Civil Service & NHS rather than Civil Servants contracted to Universal Credit run by corporate companies. The Health Care Professional that are run by corporate companies can be given back & invested in the NHS to do proper Medical Assessments instead of Targets for profit.
Mental Health is the hardest condition to get PIP, the amount of failed PIP claims with Mental Health are the biggest % of failures.
Why are they called Job Center’s if they have no jobs. Admin for corporate companies.
So Welfare Reform without scrapping Universal Credit which involves all other benefits rolled up into one benefit called UC is not going to work.
People can get benefits while working, on a mortgage, quite a lot with both. Before the Tory Welfare Reform of 2010 if you worked you could not claim any benefits.
£1bn a year ATOS Contract, £1bn a year Capita contract, £1bn a year on all the other Government Contracts. Since the Civil Service IT system is owned by ATOS, the DWP is owned by ATOS a French company that also trades in weapons of war & healthcare professionals.
The wastage in DWP Admin for targets & profit makes the Tories & Labour part of the Welfare State problem, in fact that is the Welfare State Problem & not disabled people.
Why is everyone now interested in disability rights when there have been 15 years where they have not cared about disability. The hypocrites in Human Rights for the disabled.
It’s all just a ruse to attempt to balance Rachel Reeves’ books, demonizing the disabled and using them as a scapegoat for failed fiscal policy. Same old benefits bashing from New Labour 2.0, no different to Tories.
